06/24/2024 “Time of Death is…”

We got to be in scrubs the whole day today which is so clutch. For our last two days we get to be in comfy clothes too so I am excited about that. In our anatomy lecture and lab we learned about the brain and the nervous system generally. I still ger super excited with the fact that we can learn the material in lectures and then immediately apply it in the lab. I think the brain and spinal cord is so fascinating. The fact that each groove and hole has a purpose is so powerful. I am excited to learn more.

The second half of the day we got to learn some EMT skills. Outside of working as an EMT, the skills we learn can be applied anywhere the time calls. We had a few different stations and 4 great M2s to learn from. While in the BLS station, Sammy shared a story of another medical student who used CPR to save a life on her very first day as an EMT. I got goosebumps from the possibility of being able to save a life with this training. Jokeignly we laughed at Reem sharing how in a scary situation like this she’ll go “Time of death is..” This was hilarious but we obviously know she was joking; Reem is so impressively smart and is such a genuine person.

We also finished the day by having a MedEx celebration that Cassandra organized. It was a cookout theme so we had some good burgers and played some fun games. I won in a very serious Jenga and then did Karaoke with Thrisha. This was super fun and we are so grateful for Cassandra for being willing to host tonight.

See you tomorrow!!
